Visually Disabled Will Not Wait At Stop

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has developed the "I'm at Stop" application for the visually disabled citizens. Visually disabled passengers with Izmirim Card will send notifications to the bus they want to ride and the bus driver will be able to know at what stop the disabled passenger is waiting. Thanks to the audible warning, the visually disabled will know that their bus has come to the stop without any help.

 

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality ESHOT General Directorate has developed software that will facilitate transportation for the visually disabled. The "I'm at  the Stop" application, which will allow visually passengers with a İzmirim Card to get on buses without any help from anyone, has been launched via ESHOT Mobile.

 

Visually Disabled Won't Stay at The Stop

The project, which has been used and improved by the designated pilot group for about six months, will work as follows: Visually disabled passengers with a Izmir Card will use the 'Stop' tab in the ESHOT Mobile application installed on smartphones.The passenger is expected enter data about bus line number the bus stop. The notification will appear instantly on the information screen of the first bus approaching the stop. By this way, ESHOT drivers will know at what stop visually disabled passengers are waiting. The system will continuously inform both the driver and the passenger. When the bus comes to the stop, a voice alert will be issued both from the system and from the speaker mounted outside the vehicles. The system will also notify the disabled passenger of the stop he wants to get off.
