İZTAŞIT buses carried 113,413 passengers in the first two week on the Seferihisar line where the Project was first applied. A number of improvements are made to improve the quality of the expeditions.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's İZTAŞIT project integrating transportation cooperatives to the public transportation network in the surrounding districts was two weeks behind. İZTAŞIT vehicles, which started to provide a better quality service with new buses, carry 113,000 passengers in the first two weeks. The problems resulting from the reorganisation of the system are quickly eliminated. In order to improve the quality of İZTAŞIT expeditions, which are constantly monitored by ESHOT, solutions are created in the light of field observations as well as notifications of partners and the citizens.
İZTAŞIT Project united the privately owned transportation companies who were carrying passengers with their own minibuses under one roof in Seferihisar.
Three more buses are on the way
ESHOT General Manager Erhan Bey stated that ”the problems regarding the itinerary will be minimised in a short time with three new vehicles that will be included in İZTAŞIT. We find quick solutions to insufficient service numbers and integration of transport lines. Lack of stops are determined in Ulamis. These will be installed quickly. At the moment, we don’t have a major problem. All partners are adapting to the system rapidly. The partners are conscious of the restructuring and are adapting themselves. The system is so new and it's settling down easily. After a short while, everything will be much better."
The Project will expand to all other districts
The Project will be applied throughout the whole Peninsula and then in all the surrounding districts of İzmir in the near future. Accordingly, the General Directorate of ESHOT continues to negotiate with the managements of individually owned transporters serving the districts.
Improvements made at İZTAŞIT
Due to the density of Seferihisar - Izmir line 975 and 985, the frequency of services is decreased from 11 to 8 minutes by increasing the number of vehicles.
Corresponding service times of Çamtepe - Seferihisar buses with the school hours of the students residing in Gödence, Gölcük and Çamtepe is done by increasing the evening shuttles. The waste of time due to the fact that the same buses also served Bademler, İhsaniye and Turgut regions was overcome when Bademler - Urla line 732 made Bademler the last stop. İhsaniye and Turgut were also served with line 991. The 990 Beyler-Seferihisar shuttle also increased to 2 in the mornings.
829 Cumaovasi - Seferihisar line would make the last stop in Ürkmez instead of Orhanlı. Thus, the integration of lines 829 and 989 is also achieved.
The waste of time and the problems about the frequency of services at Orhanlı - Seferihisar 989 to Ömür and Payamlı will be solved with the addition of three new vehicles to the fleet.
Advantages for the Disabled and over-65 years of age
Disabled people with medical reports (40%) and the gravely disabled citizens with their companions will have "free" bus passes on buses. Citizens over 65 will also be able to use IZTAŞIT free of charge. The electronic İzmirim Kart can be obtained freely with just a photo from izmir Metropolitan Municipality Seferihisar Local Service Directorate.
25,000 of the 113,000 passengers are over 65
The İZTAŞIT Project put an end to cash tickets and roadside pick-up in public transportation. Electronic İzmirim Card will be used and operated under ESHOT control. 113,413 passengers were carried in the first two weeks. The total number of boardings of full fare , student, teacher and 60-year-old’s was 88070. The total number of disabled, 65-year-old and other free passes subsidized by the ESHOT General Directorate was 25,343.
